At Rock Solid Martial Arts, we believe that every kick has a purpose—and this week, we’re teaching that lesson through focused target-based kicking drills that are helping students gain control, speed, and confidence on the mat.
As part of our Katy Kids Martial Arts program, Week 15 is dedicated to helping students develop not just their physical power, but also their precision and discipline—skills that build Taekwondo confidence in Katy, one strike at a time.
Why Target Kicking Matters in Taekwondo

In traditional Taekwondo, power means nothing without control. That’s why this week’s drills are designed to help students hit small, specific targets with accuracy, balance, and timing.
Here’s what our students are developing:
✅ Accuracy – hitting with intention, not guesswork
✅ Timing – reacting in sync with movement or instruction
✅ Balance – maintaining posture through each kick
✅ Power – generating strength with technique
✅ Reaction – adjusting on the fly with focus and clarity
These aren’t just physical drills—they’re confidence-builders that are part of the core philosophy at Rock Solid Martial Arts.
What Students Are Doing in Class
Led by Master Joseph Santarose, students this week are working on:
Paddle and hand-target drills to improve coordination
Partner-based reaction timing
Kick combinations for control and speed
Challenge circuits to test balance and endurance under pressure
Each drill ties into the bigger lesson: intentional movement leads to mastery.
Training the Mind, Not Just the Body
At Rock Solid Martial Arts in Katy, we teach more than just Taekwondo techniques—we teach mental discipline. Target kicking demands focus, patience, and the ability to reset and try again with purpose.
These same skills are the foundation of Taekwondo confidence in Katy. Whether a student is facing a test in school, a challenge at home, or a sparring match on the mat, we want them to know how to keep their mind strong and sharp.
Bring the Lesson Home – Ask These Questions:
To help reinforce what they’re learning in class, try asking your child:
“Which kick was hardest to aim?”
“How did you stay focused when you missed?”
“What helped you hit the target just right?”
Even just 2–3 minutes of reflection helps kids take ownership of their growth.
💬 Final Thoughts from Master Joseph Santarose
At Rock Solid Martial Arts, our mission is to help your child grow strong from the inside out—through every kick, every challenge, and every small win.
Week 15 is more than just a training week. It’s another building block in the journey toward focus, power, and unshakable confidence.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
We’re proud of every Rock Solid student and the progress they’re making each time they step on the mat.
